Salzburg-Trip: Englisches Paar trifft Krampus – A Hilariously Horrifying Holiday!

So, picture this: Salzburg, Austria. December. Snow falling, charming Christmas markets twinkling… and me, completely unprepared for the Krampus. My wife, Sarah, and I, two seasoned travellers, thought we had it all figured out. We'd planned our itinerary down to the last gingerbread cookie. We were experts, right? Wrong. Dead wrong.

The Pre-Krampus Planning (or Lack Thereof)

Find out where and when they're happening, make sure you have a safe way home (and maybe a good supply of Glühwein for post-event recovery), and maybe take a friend. Preferably one who's not as easily scared as my wife was.

Our Salzburg trip became a legend — and yes, the pictures of us fleeing are a hilarious reminder to properly research local traditions. It’s an awesome story that will be told and retold throughout the years — one that taught me valuable lessons about respecting local customs and the sheer terrifying fun of unexpected encounters.
