The Course: Brutal, but Beautiful

We're talking a challenging parcours with some seriously steep inclines, muddy sections that threatened to swallow my shoes whole (they almost did!), and enough twists and turns to make my head spin. I nearly face-planted at least three times – the mud was treacherous. This year's organizers definitely cranked up the difficulty – I'm pretty sure they added some extra hills just to torment us. 😂

And don’t forget layers. You will likely start cold and then warm up once the race starts. This means that you will be sweating like crazy. It also means you will cool down quickly as you stop running, so bring a jacket or something to stay warm once it ends.

Hydration is crucial (I learned this the hard way). I didn't drink enough water before or during the race. This resulted in a killer headache and some serious fatigue.
